In April 2022, Deepraj first learned about the French-stream route through Express Entry — a way to turn fluency into CRS points that most candidates were leaving on the table. French wasn't a language to learn from scratch: Deepraj had spoken it since the age of five, a quiet inheritance carried across Indian roots. By August, that was reason enough to sit both the TEF and TCF exams.

En avril 2022, Deepraj a découvert la filière française d’Entrée express — une façon de transformer la maîtrise du français en points CRS que la plupart des candidats laissaient de côté. Le français n’était pas une langue à apprendre depuis zéro : Deepraj le parlait depuis l’âge de cinq ans, un héritage discret transmis malgré des racines indiennes. Dès août, c’était une raison suffisante pour passer les examens TEF et TCF.

That December, Deepraj landed in Canada on a work permit, carrying scores that were about to matter more than almost anything else in the profile. The invitation to apply arrived four months later, in March 2023.

En décembre de cette même année, Deepraj est arrivé au Canada avec un permis de travail, porteur de résultats qui allaient bientôt compter plus que presque tout le reste du profil. L’invitation à présenter une demande est arrivée quatre mois plus tard, en mars 2023.

That invitation wasn't the finish line. It was the door — the moment French stopped being a subject Deepraj studied and became the reason a life in Canada was even possible. Everything since has simply been the walk through a door that a language opened.

Cette invitation n’était pas la ligne d’arrivée. C’était la porte — le moment où le français a cessé d’être une matière étudiée par Deepraj pour devenir la raison même pour laquelle une vie au Canada devenait possible. Tout ce qui a suivi n’a été que le chemin parcouru à travers une porte ouverte par une langue.
